Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that affects about 1% of the population at some time in life. It requires a multi-disciplinary approach to clinical care and research, involving clinical and basic scientists with a variety of skills. Basic scientists as well as clinicians from Neurosurgery and Neurology Departments are working together in our centre to overcome the challenges created by epilepsy.
The overall goal of our research program is to elucidate basic mechanisms through which a normal brain becomes epileptic and to develop novel treatment options for patients suffering from epilepsy.
