I am investigating cellular and molecular principles of the lateral organization in the yeast plasma membrane (PM). ThePM is the major hub for signal-processing and plays an essential role for cell homeostasis. Various functional regions and domains have been identified in the yeast PM. I am interested in the molecular mechanisms of domain formation and how these domains are influenced by their immediate membrane environment and under different physiological conditions. In this connection, the role of protein-protein and protein-lipid interaction represents the focus of my research.
