The joint foundation professorship for geographical-epidemiological medical microbiology of the Faculty of Medicine (University of Münster) and the “Centre de Recherches Médicale de Lambaréné (CERMEL, Lambaréné, Gabon) deals with topics of international and geographical infection medicine with special reference to sub-Saharan Africa. Special emphasis is placed on clinical studies on vaccines and drugs as well as diagnostic studies.
