CORE UNITS

Rapid advances in biological and biomedical research have led to a deeper understanding of cellular and molecular processes in health and disease. Researchers therefore need access to efficient high-throughput services that are too costly and labour-intensive for individual higher education institutions. The Interdisciplinary Centre for Clinical Research (IZKF) Münster operates core facilities that specialise in providing cost-effective, state-of-the-art technical and instrumental support to the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster, external faculties, external non-affiliated institutions and industrial researchers.

The IZKF Core Units operate on a cost recovery basis and charges reflect the actual expenses for consumables and service contracts. Moreover, the Core Units promote translational research by interacting closely with academia and industry, ensuring that the technology available is continuously updated. Lectures, workshops and practical courses are organized on a regular basis to keep users informed about current developments.

FORMER IZKF CORE UNITS - now Core Facilities of the Medical Faculty

IZKF Core Unit Proteomics was funded from October 2014 to December 2025. This service platform was transferred into the hands of the Medical Faculty on 01.01.2026. Service is further available at:

Core Facility Proteomics

Head: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Simone König

IZKF Core Unit Integrated Functional Genomics (IFG) was closed on 30.09.2014. The Genomics and Bioinformatics Sections were merged with the Genomics Core Facility of the former Leibniz-Institute for Arteriosclerosis (LIFA) on 01.10.2014 to form the new Core Facility Genomics of the Medical Faculty.
