Spermatogenesis and testis function
Fertility of male mammals relies on daily production of millions of spermatozoa. Spermatogensis is regulated by interplay of hormones. The Schlatt team explores the physiological and cellular aspects of sperm production. The role of stem cells and their niches presents the main research focus. The spectrum of research covers basic science to human appplications. Aside using animal models (rodents, monkeys) and human testicular tissue, the research team develops and applies many alternative experimental strategies (Organoids, Microfluidic-Chips).
