Education:
Biologist and Master in Neuroscience research, I obtained my international PhD at the University of Oviedo (Spain) with honorary price. After research stays at U. Coimbra (Portugal) and U. California at San Francisco (USA), I affiliated as a postdoc at the Ruhr University Bochum for 6 years, where I specialized in the networks underlying extinction of appetitive-modulated behaviors. In 2022, I joined the U. Münster where I study the effect of neuropeptide S in fear and non-aversive motivated behaviours.
Research Interest:
I am interested in the neurophysiological basis of associative memory, specifically the influence of the context in the retrieval, extinction, and renewal phases in both health and pathology, at the cellular and subcellular compartments. I seek to understand to what extent neuromodulatory structures and synaptic plasticity-related proteins contribute to these processes (Neuropeptides S and Y, BDNF, GABA, and Oxytocin). Extinction, Social behavior and non-learned anxiety in psychosis related diseases.
I am engaged in science communication and outreach activities through CERFA, the Spanish scientist association in Germany. In this capacity, I organize regular conferences, internships, and workshops aimed at young international neuroscientists and the general public (both adults and children) to discover the wonders of the brain.
