Normozoospemia and Infertility

Decreased semen parameters are accepted indicators for fertility impairment in men and by now, male infertility is an accepted risk factor for co-morbidities. However, whether normozoospermic men in infertile couples also benefit from an andrological examination is still discussed. Between 2010 and 2019, 997 patients with normozoospermia and infertility presented at our centre. The retrospective analysis of their results yielded an increased risk of adiposity, genital malformations, hypogonadism and hypogonadism associated symptoms like loss of libido and erectile dysfunction compared to healthy fertile men.

In this longitudinal study, we aim to evaluate the changes in hormonal levels, erectile dysfunction, and aging male symptoms over time by restating the andrological examination in these men. In addition, the rate of newly developed comorbidities, such as cardio-vascular diseases and cancers will be recorded and compared to those in healthy men. Therefore, we will re-call our patients and after obtaining informed consent, we will examine them again or aske them to complete long or short questionnaires. The objective of the study is to identify markers that predict significant deviations from a healthy status in normozoospermic infertile men.
