I hold a B.Sc. in Biology and a M.Sc. in Biomedicine from the University of Alicante. During my bachelor's thesis, I focused on optogenetic tools for Retinitis pigmentosa in the Biomedical Neuroengineering Research Group. I performed my master's thesis at the Institute of Research, Development, and Innovation in Healthcare Biotechnology of Elche where I explored the impact of organophosphates on pancreatic β-cells, primarily using electrophysiological techniques.
In 2019, I joined Prof. Dr. Martina Düfer’s group at the Institute of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, University of Münster for my Ph.D. in the Research Training Group Chembion. My doctoral research revealed that targeting GluN2B-containing NMDA receptors in pancreatic b-cells could be a new therapeutic approach for type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Since May 2024, I am working in Prof. Dr. Albrecht Schwab's laboratory as a postdoctoral researcher. My current research focuses on how mitochondrial KCa3.1 channels of non-small cell lung cancer cells shape the aggressive tumor cell behavior.
